ZAN

Marmit did a great job in the 80s-90s with theyr Dynamic Action Figure series from Devilman. A perfect traslation of the characters from 2D to 3D with vintage toy style from back then give birth to a series of figures totally different to wath Fewture did but still pretty good looking. And one of theyr biggest strengths was the character selection, they just didnt do Devilmen and Siren to death but they also did minor characters no other company did.

One of them is Zan, one of the strongest generals in Satan´s army. This figure can stand on his own tough he can only move his shoulders, with no articulation on the legs or head, i dont know the reason but this makes him an even more limited character. Also he is hollow, and made with vynil, wich makes him looks and feel like a Funko Pop from the 70s.

Also, his design, i love how much he screams "SENTAI!!", anyone who dsnt know Devilman would naturally expect this monster to from the Power Rangers!

The sculpt is good, 100% Go Nagi´s artwork, with the rigth volume and size (he is actually the tallest of the figures and have a pretty hunly shape), you can even see his abs and bulgue shaped under the furry skin....damn, he looks soo much like a man on a rubber suit!!

The colors scheme is purple and greay, with a grany texture on it, sich is pretty interesting since we never see his color in the manga. All fangs in both mouth are perfectly painted as well as each one of his eyes (6 eyes) and the claws on his feet.

He is not the most fun or dynamic figure of the series but i think its more a problem of design than figure making since Marmit traslated his perfectly. He is just...incrediblly outdated looking tough he fits perfectly in the series.

ZAN

Yasushi Nirasawa was an amazing artists and the Fewture Models Devilman series was a perfect testament for that. He did some amazing and awe inspiring designs based on Go Nagai´s classic characters and one of the most brillant was the sixth figure of the series; Zan.

Zan keep the extarc elements Go Nagai used for him but Nirasawa enhanced every each one of them creating a trully unique beast. Thos monster could be on any horror hollywood movie but at the same time fits perfectly on a Power Rangers chapter, he looks alien and ancient at the same time, elegant and campy, pretty Lovecraftesque and at the same time like a yokai. This design shows perfectly the horror and super sentai mix Go Nagai imprinted on his original manga like no other figure did.

This demon is the tallest one of the series after Zennon and is very VERY nicelly shaped. He dosnt have the grotesque anatomy of the others, with long arms and sickly features, Zan is nicelly muscled and fit in a human looking way and that gives him a pretty manly and sexy silhouette. He even have a round and perfectly shaped heairy ass.

His fur has no paint, but the sculpt is soo sharp and nicelly done that it dosnt looks simplistic at all, the hair have a lot of dimension with no paint at all. His upper torso looks like some kind of rock armour and have a metalic blue paint that gives him a crustacean exo-eskeleton look.

His head looks aerodynamic and the spikes looks like a crown that gives him a royal looks. His golden eyes and his fangs are sharply sculpted and perfectly painted, with no sloopynes and gives him a terrific and evil look.

He have a lot of eyes; on his chest, on his legs, on his knees, on his back, and every single one is perfectly painted and focused into a single point and reminds me a Power Rangers monster.

His action feature is on his chest; move his upper torso and the lower lip of the chest mouth will move along mechanically to open the mouth and reveal and green tongue with an eye on his troath. Seriuslly, Nirasawa?….You designed his insides too?? This is one of the coolest looking monster i ever seen made figure.

He is extremelly well articulated; neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, torso, legs, knees, ankles, he even is have articulation on the fingers of his feet!!! This makes him one of the most dynamic and fun to play figures of the series, with a lot of movement range and dynamic posing.

Sadly, this articulations are also his week spot: given how tall and heavy he is, the articulations on his knes, ankles and feet dont resist too much and make him fall constantly. He comes with the big coin base with his name and an intrincate skeleton and serpent design to help him stand, but this base dosnt help too much… he is standing on his own all the time tough for that he needs to reach the perfect balance and is tricky.

Even with this balance problem, he is one of my favorites figures of series two, following closelly Zennon. Theres not a lot of Zan figures out there and this one shines as the best of them thanks to an amazing design and beautyfull execution.
