DEVILMAN LADY

 Unifive was a japanese toy company from the 90s that develope a lot of strange and unusual toys, mistery surround it since we didnt see too much about it outside of Japana before it was swallow by Banpresto, but the most popular serires of figures from them was the Devilman "Detial Fgures", a serires of small size statues with some really impresive sculpting and painting as well as glow in the dark variants.

They released both version of Devilman and a Siren, but the other character that was incrediblly popular back then and had a lot of figures (desite not appear in Devilman) was Devilman Lady, she was everywere back then (no surprise since her anime was on air). She share the same size with Siren tough unlike the demon bird, Lady is not in a scaling pose and is missing wings, soo she is the smallest figure of the collection.

She share the same base tough as the rest, a square red simple base with a silver sticker with her name. Her pose....i am not sure if it comes from one of Go Nagai illustrations, i feelt like i seen it before but i cant point out from wath image it is but looks pretty classic for the character. The body proportions with huge boobs and the super cute face with fangs is also the brand of Go Nagai.

The sculpt is good, with most of the detailing being in the furry parts on her anatomy and the paint is good too, while keep at minimum. Her skin tone is a little more dark than Siren and they did a great job on her face, painting her red eyes and fangs perfesctly in such smal scale.

Overall she is a good little statue, tough she is my least favorite of the group, maybe a pair of big wings would change my mind but she still match the rest of the collection perfectly.

DEVILMAN, SIREN & DEVILMAN LADY TORUTORU ITEM

Now this are actually my very first Devilman figures i ever had. When i meet Devilman for the first time on the Playstation videogame i didnt had the confidence to buy those huge and expensive Fewture Models figures, but i sure get in no time this tiny little figures from the line Toru Toru Item, by Banpresto.

This figures where not very spectacular actually, but they are the seed of my collection.

They are very small, like the Microman, but unlike them they can stand on theyr own and theyr articulations are extremelly limited: only the neck, shoulders and legs (and wings on Siren and Devilman) soo the posability is almost no existent, just like the 90s toys.

The details are OK i guess, given theyr small size (again), Devilman have brigth yellow eyes and red and withe mouth with fangs and Siren looks a lot like the character design of the OVAs, and the sculpt is also descent with Devilman having big and sexy muscles with veins and the girls having the misil boobs Go Nagai love soo much.

I have to say i think i was 14 or 15 years old back then? I dont remember, but i do remember how unconfortable was to have this little toys of nude women....

They didnt have any accesory except for Devilman Lady that comes with a chibi version of Asuka Ran, an extremelly weird detail i must say and there was a 4th figure on the collection; Devilman anime version, but i didnt get him because i tough he looked silly.

Also, many years ago, before i moved out from my old house, Devilman fall from my desk and lose one of his wings and it didnt matter how much i searched (i even moved), i never found his wing again. Its a weird experience and is anoying to have him incomplete (specially since i think they are very tircky to get by now) but i cant say much about this figures aside of that.

DEVILMAN LADY VIOLENCE

Back in 2000, when Devilman was extremelly popular, Kaiyodo released many figures of the character that i am not entirelly aware of, tough the only ones i got was theyr cute named "Violence Action Figure" series that only consisted on two characters: Devilman and Devilman Lady.

While Devilman was pretty close to the original design tough he had a weird color, Devilman Lady is totally different to Go Nagai´s original design. Her face is extremelly feral looking, almost like a werewolf tough she is using beauty make up. Also her wings are huge and shaped differently (both in her head and back side).

She is on the same scale as Devilman but inlike him, she cant stand on her own at all soo they decided to give her an accesory: a base. This base dosnt work too much actually since she likes to fall back even with it, but insted of using a totally generic base they decided to sculpt it like a monster. The monster - or demon, looks like a green manhog with his arm extended to the front while Devilman Lady stand on his shoulder.

The arm of the creature can be removed and show a bone and a blody hole on its place while Lady hold the ripped away arm on her hand proudlly. This base is really good looking for the display tough, like i said, is totally usless.

And just like Devilman, Lady have an extremelly odd color choice that makes her look totally different to the original design. She is cast in transluscent plastic with her body bainted on a nacar white?? Or metalic white? I am not sure how to describe it, but this color make her looks like some kind of statue in a museum or a goodes with the skin of a pearl.

Her fur is purple and her wings have a mix of both colors. I find this purple to give her a very strong femenine wuality and with the plastic texture, the purple kinda shines given her a pretty strange look.

She is articulated on the neck shoulders, elbows, wrists, legs, ankles and knees and while this articulations work good and are very simple, theres not many options to pose her thanks to the sculpt. She is deffinetly much more limited than Devilman and the fact her wings are not removable makes it worst.

I am not sure wath to think about this figure tough, at first i really hated her because how different she looks, but rigth now i can see she have some beautifull quality i didns see before, tough the lack of balance and limited poseability really blows.

DEVILMAN LADY

Devilman action figures series by Fewture Models and designed by Yasushi Nirasawa has been one of my main collection and has been on permanent display on my room for almost 20 years. The series is divided into good and amazing figures and is one of the most prime examples of the greatness of Nirasawa.

The 5th figure on the series was Devilman Lady, and like Siren, she had a twin sister more suited for western audience and ToyR´Us. This censored version was one of the very first Devilman figures i got soo she is much more common than the pretty rare japanese original version.

Devilman Lady design dosnt moves too much outside of her original version, with only a few Nirasawa details here and there: a sharpen hair on her arms, metalic rings on her wings, she is probablly the most human looking character of the first series and makes a pretty and cool looking figure.

Her face is totally different that Siren. While the demon bird had this dark and menacing look in her eyes, Devilman Lady have a more confortable and sweet look in her face tough she have sharp fangs coming out of her mouth, wich makes her more cute looking.

Her body is totally different to Siren. There is no re-use of sculpts in here: while Siren is leaning towards one of her sides, Devilman Lady is standing straight and is much more fit and muscley. Is pretty amazing how detailed is the anatomy of her muscles while still keeping the unrealistic and stylish design of Nirasawa.

Her skin is beautyfull, with many greens, purples and blues highligthing the muscles and shadows above the skin tone. Juts because she is a nude woman dosnt mean she is simplistic, quiet the opposite. The fur is also very nicelly painted with metalic blues and greens that make it looks like moss in some part, make her very unique looking compared to all other Devilman Lady figures.

The only odd thing i dont understand are the bone structure on her chest, between her breats…

Her censored twin is not as brillant tough. Sculpt wise is the same figure except for the fur bra on her boobs, but the color is incredivlly lazy and simplistic: just a plain skin tone and some metalic red on her fur, this design is not close to any other version of the character and that makes it quiet innecesary.

Both comes with the same rocky base with skulls tough she can stand on her own perfectly outside the base.

She is articulated on the legs, shoulders, wrists, elbows and head, tough the closed hand and clawed hand give her much more options for cool poses compared to the other figures, she is a little more dynamic looking.

Devilman Lady turned out to be pretty cool and cute looking figure, she can stand on her own in any collection tough, like Devilman, i find her a little plain and boring looking compared to Jinmen or Siren.

Devilman Lady against her western censored version, the original one wins in good looks on every aspect.
