JINMEN

Marmit was full of mistery. Even now with the internet i cant dig too much about them or find too many photo evidence of theyr figures but they did some trully amazing ones, and one of them is this one: from the Devilman Dynamic Action Figures is Jinmen.

Jinmen came in a big blister just like Winged Devilman and is a trully amazing figure!! He is articulated on his neck, shoulders, legs and tail, wich makes him the most articulated figure of the series (pretty old fashion articulations tough) and can stand on his own by helping himself with his hands.

He is not the tallest character but he is TRULLY HEAVY and pretty spectacular looking. Amarmit actually sculpted every single one of the faces on Jinmen´s shell and painted every single one with different skin tones and each detail prefectly defined. And i am not talking about sculting many faces, i talk about how you can look at the manga and identify every single face from this figure.

Is a totally perfect 3D representation of Go Nagai´s art to a totally different level. True, Akira and Miki and the rest are very accurate, but sculpting and painting every face on this character shows how good was Marmit on his figure crafting, wich is amazing considering this is a toy from the 80s-90s.

The monster himself is very green with different dark washes and yellow veins on his arms and the face sculp is actually pretty cute and cartoony, just like Go Nagai did it; with the big purple smile and the snake tongue cursling arund and the yellow details on his forehead.

I love the Fewture Models Jinmen, but i love soo much this one as well since i like the "alive" faces much more, i find them more frightning and while this figure have the typical quality from the 90s (not too strong plastic, limited articulations) i find him the most outstanding from the entire series.

Thats it until i see Satan, Psycho Genie or Zennon, tough given i barelly see a couple of Marmit figures over the last 20 years, i doubt i can get the rest of the cast and compete my collection. Marmit figures are not as amazing looking as Fewture, but given how rare they are that makes them probablly more valuable tough i doubt i can know more about the subject without going directly to Japan.

ZAN

Marmit did a great job in the 80s-90s with theyr Dynamic Action Figure series from Devilman. A perfect traslation of the characters from 2D to 3D with vintage toy style from back then give birth to a series of figures totally different to wath Fewture did but still pretty good looking. And one of theyr biggest strengths was the character selection, they just didnt do Devilmen and Siren to death but they also did minor characters no other company did.

One of them is Zan, one of the strongest generals in Satan´s army. This figure can stand on his own tough he can only move his shoulders, with no articulation on the legs or head, i dont know the reason but this makes him an even more limited character. Also he is hollow, and made with vynil, wich makes him looks and feel like a Funko Pop from the 70s.

Also, his design, i love how much he screams "SENTAI!!", anyone who dsnt know Devilman would naturally expect this monster to from the Power Rangers!

The sculpt is good, 100% Go Nagi´s artwork, with the rigth volume and size (he is actually the tallest of the figures and have a pretty hunly shape), you can even see his abs and bulgue shaped under the furry skin....damn, he looks soo much like a man on a rubber suit!!

The colors scheme is purple and greay, with a grany texture on it, sich is pretty interesting since we never see his color in the manga. All fangs in both mouth are perfectly painted as well as each one of his eyes (6 eyes) and the claws on his feet.

He is not the most fun or dynamic figure of the series but i think its more a problem of design than figure making since Marmit traslated his perfectly. He is just...incrediblly outdated looking tough he fits perfectly in the series.

SIREN

The strange and misteryous Marmit company released a set of Dynamic Action Figures based on Devilman in the 80s-90s. Theres not much information about this series or the company itself and the figures are actually very rare tough theres some exceptions, somehow i seen Siren a lot over the years wich is pretty strange given how popular she is, one would expect she to be the first to sold out.

And i actually have a speciall memorie about this figure since it was a gift from my parents for succesfully aprove the collecgue entrance exam (yes, my parents give me a toy of a nude woman, i know how strange it sounds) and i consider her one of the high points of the series as well thanks to her exquisite sculpt and paint.

She is only articulated on her legs, shoulders and head, wich mare her pretty limited like any good and respectable 90s figure tough she stands in a pretty proud and femenine way. Her sculpt is really good since every hair on her feathers is sculpted and the paint is up to the same level of detail.

She have a pretty natural and good looking skine tone with soft washes and i love his her claws are painted in orange with brown washes. Here face is extremelly pretty tough she dosnt have the usual evil smile she shows on the manga, her fangs can still been seen coming out of her pink lips and her eyes with eyelashes are the typical Go Nagai style.

She have trobles with balance tough, since her head is really heavy and his feet have tiny bird fingers in front, she tends to fal frewuently tough once she get the rigth balance she can stand perfectly.

This is one of the prettyest Siren figure i ever seen and i am too happy with her and one extra cute detail! On her blister she had a sticker of Go Nagai's mascot over her breast! I guess it wasnt very normal to see toys with nude boobs back in the past century tough it seems they didnt have any issue with her feathery pubes.

WINGED DEVILMAN

The Dynamic Action Figures series by Marmit was supposed to be the perfect Devilman figures series in the 80s-90s (??) since it was supposed to be the perfect 3D traslation of Go Nagai characters and saw big succes with Akira and Miki (not that it was hard to make thos two) but theyr Devilman leave a lot to be desired since it was quiet boring looking. Gladlly, they re-released the character in pure Fewture Models style by giving him a "Winged" version.

I dont know if this version cames first than the Fewture one tough, but this fixed most of the problems the original Devilman had. This one came on a much bigger blister and had a much more detailed sculpt and expression.

The way the muscles are flexed, the open legs and fierce face expression make him more frightning than tha expected, specially on a closer look at his face and how each one of his fangs is painted above his red gums, this figure is really dynamic even with the limits of its pose.

The wings are big but they are not fully open and even his tail is longer and more detailed. He is articulated on the neck and shoulders and legs, tough the legs articulations are too tigth soo he is even more estatuesque than the rest of the figures.

Also, i wasnt able to get the "1st edition" since this figures are soo rare and hard to find, i only was able to get the 2nd edition with the colors of the anime: green skin with wed wings. The colors are vibrant and have dark washing in the rigth places to give more volume to his muscles and while it looks out of place with the other Marmit figures (too colorfull), the color scheme is not out of character at all.

Tough i still wish to get the 1st edition.

The only complaing here is that he cant stand at all. His wings are too heavy soo the only thing that siupports him is his tail, made with rubbery soft plastic and after a few minutes he just fall to his back. Its a shame tough since he is the only Marmit figure that cant stand on his own, but even with this, he is a complete improvement over his non-winged first version.

DEVILMAN

The Dynamic Action Figure series by Marmit was released back in the 80s-90s (??) and consisted n the full cast of Devilman perfectly traslated into 3D form by that time period standars. They are not easy to find now but my first figure of the series wasnt Akira or Miki, but the titular demon, Devilman and i remember how much of a fuzz i did back then when i get this guy.

He is probablly made with vynil and have the basic articulations from back then: neck, shoulder and legs, and can stand on his own perfectly and is much bigger than Akira and Miki, bigger than a Figma/S.H.Figuarts but still not a giant, just the rigth size Go Nagai gives him originally, wich talks alot about how concern was Marmit about scale on this line.

The sculpt is good, with the furry legs and the big bulging muscles, this Devilman is extremelly sexy and tempting since even his back have a perfect muscular anatomy. His head have a very serious expression tough...very human wich is weird given how inhuman Go Nagai alwasy drew him, instead this Devilman is specially pacific looking.

The paint is good, with a redish/orange tanned skin and grey dark legs and the details on his face are also pretty good and well defined, the red strips under his eyes, his green pupils and cute looking little fangs. Asadlly, the head was cast on black plastic, soo the skin painting looks darker than the body tone. And after 20 years, the color has been degrading and is getting darker and darker.

This difference between the head color and body is extremelly anoying but aside of that, overall, this guy is really plain. Probablly the most plan Devilman figure i ever seen and the only character from Marmit that dosnt looks drawn by Go Nagai. This is by far my least favorite character despite the yummy looking body but gladlly, all other character looks much much better.

MIKI MAKIMURA

The Dynamic Action Figures toyline from Marmit not only was the only toy line aside of Fewture to release many different character from Devilman, but it was the more faithfull to the character and match the style and time of Go Naga´s original work. And thanks to theyr release window (80s-90s??) they are extremelly difficult to find. And to my surprise, i was able to get this one a couple of months ago!!

Miki Makimura, one of the most important Go Nagai heroins and one of the 3 human characters Marmit release (Miki, Akira and Ryo....that sadly, i dont have) is actually not one of my favorite characters tough i wasnt able to net get her.

She is even smaller than Akira wich means Marmit is really good at scale (something modern companys should learn) and just like Akira, she have a very light weigth and can stand on her own despite her small feet. Again, she seem made by a very vynilish plastic.

Her sculpt is very clean and basic, her tiny mouth and big eyes are nicelly sculpted but the most detailed sculpt is on her boobs, its amazing how realistic looks the dress and how compress her huge boobs (i am glad they dont mess with her balance) and the paint is also pretty simple and clean: shoes, red dress, eyes and brown hair. There is missing some brown in the inside part of the hair but this is the only  issue i can find.

Just like toys from the 90s, she is only articulated on her neck, shoulders and legs, gladlly her arms and body language is sculpted to make him looks femenine (and Akira looks masculine) soo while she cant achive a lot of poses, her default pose have a cute personality.

Her only accesory is her little brother, Tare-chan. Yes, an extra figure, a pretty small and almost unimportant character that actually was the comic reliefe of the original manga, he is almost as iconic as his sister and is pretty nice from Marmit to add him since i think this is the only figure of this character.

Just like Miki, he is articulated only on the neck, shoulders and legs and his vibrant coloring clothes and anime face design scream 70s.

As much as i dont care about Miki, i am really glad i was able to get her specially 30 years after her release. Now i only wish i could get Ryo Asuka...

AKIRA FUDO

I admit i love the Fewture Models toy line of Devilman and i am not the only one who does it because is the most popular line thanks to its awe inspiring design, high quality and amount of characters. But theres a lot of Devilman toy lines aside of Fewture and the most special and amazing one of the one made by Marmit.

I dont know much about Marmit, i think it was focused on soft vynil toys and kaiju figures back in the 70s-90s and theres not a whole lot of information about the company. I am not even sure if it still exists but theyr Devilman figures made a big impression on me for sure. They line is called "Dynamic Action Figures" and they are the oppossite to Fewture: While Fewture line used dark and grotesque designs, Marmit used the character design from Go Nagai´s manga, soo this figures are the most faithfull representation of the characters.

I dont know how old this figures are but they look and felt ancient, wich deffinetly suits the Devilman pretty good. My guess is they come from the 80s-90s since the card in theyr blisters dosnt have any date and they are actually very difficult to find by now.

The first figure on the series is the protagonist of course!! Akira Fudo. He is small, the same size action figures had back in the begining of the 90s, a little bit smaller than a Figma/S.H.Figuarts and thanks good, he can stand on his own. The plastic he is made of dosnt seem too high quality, it felt like old vynil maybe? and his articulations are the basics from back then: head, shoulders and legs and nothing more and legs articulation is useless since he cant stand if his legs are moved.

This guy is not bad quality at all, he is just a product of his time and both the sculpt and color are pretty good. The shape of his hair, his face expression, his body build, everything is an exact copy of Go Nagai´s manga drawwings wich is pretty amazing considering how difficult is to sculpt such cartoony style.

The paint is very limited of course, only his head and amrs and shoes and thats it, but the color have cealn applications and its simplisity helps give him a 70s cartoon look. He is not missing details tough, the pockets on his pants are sculpted and the border of his shirt and other tiny details.

He have only one single accesory: an exact replica of the demon mask as drawn by Nagai on the manga. The sculpt is sharp and clean tough the mask is made of white plastic instead of ransluscent and the mouth is covered, also it fits pretty tigth on Akira,s head soo i dont want to play too much with it.

Overall this is extremelly diffierent to the Akira of Fewture Models, he is smaller and much more simplistic yet  much more faithfull to the character and have a pretty special charm that fits perfectly to the 70s manga. Like the Kenner Ghostbusters or the old Star Wars toys.
