FEMTO ~ EGG OF THE KING ~

One of the many reasons why i like Berserk soo much was because of the monstruositys Kentari Miura design. Berserk population is mostly grotesque and bizarre and the jewel of the crown of course, is the God Hand. The demon kings and main antagonists, designed to be both elegant and disturbing, mixing perfectly Clive Barker and H.R.Giger influences and fitting perfectly into a medieval era.

For years, God Smile Company has shown lots of prototypes of this characters and it was pretty obvious they were going to stay like that, prototypes. Until now.

In the very moment they opened the pre-oders, i ordered the first God Hand member, the Blessed King of Longing - Femto. And i got the special limited edition one, the called “Borth of theHawk of Darkness” version. This is by far the most expensive Figma figure i ever got, but i HAD to get him no matter wath.

His box was HUGE onlly because of the single accesory that make this toy soo expensive: the King´s Egg - the Crimson Behelit.

This thing is….magnifiscently done. The base of the egg makes it looks like some kind of cup sovered in red veins/rots or tentacles. I am tempted to put this thing in some kind of altar with canddles, it fits perfect for such imaginery.

The egg is just….beautifull, with a stone like texture and a crimson red paint all over it with dark hues and a wet and slimmy look, it looks alive…pulsating and pretty bloody as well. The hiddeous grinn have each teeth sculpted at different sizes and some pretty fleshy looking lips. The eye is hypnotizing and stands out magnifiscently with those intense and vibrant blue tones.

The inside of the egg is sculpted as well with veins and a strange “bee hive” like texture on the floor, its looks too much like a biologycal entity of its own. From the inside it have this “petals” tendrils that looks like a flower, but they actually have a purple/pink tone with veins. Its obvious its actually a membrane and i love how this toy turns something soo disgusting into something soo elegant looking.

The way Femto fits inside this egg is extremelly simplistic and works pretty well. Once he is posed crawiling in all four, his wings needs to be removed from the side and the middle wing´s bottom part needs to be removed as well. The egg also comes with a pair of extra “unevolved” wings that are closing around Femtos body.

With this new wings he ends up looking like a purple onion and can be placed in the middle of the egg with a peg on the side wall. The “egg face” is a separate piece soo it can be removed to make things easyer. You moves Femto´s neck soo he looks up and that it, hes now coming out of his egg like in the cover of volume 12.

Its fun to pose him like he is coming out of the egg but i am afraid to broke some pointy edge of the egg like that.

This thing was really worth the price since is such a beautifull and yet horrible vision to witness and still, this is only one accesory, the real figure is a treath of its own.

It took years to Figma and lot of strange prototypes to finally release the Blessed King of Longin, Femto action figure. One of the most expensive Figmas to date given the inhuman of his design and his wings, i knew i HAD to get him no matter wath and i even got Caska a year ago soo Femto dosnt feel alone.

Femto comes in the standar size of all Figmas, a not specially tall action figure that is a little bit taller than Solid Snake and Archer. And to my surprise, he can stand on his own pretty well. His entire body is fully articulated and while his legs are thing and feet have…a strange shape, he can maintain every pose and keep his balance nicelly.

Still tough, i prefer to use that magnifiscent base all Figmas have, the mechanical arm conected to his back.

All those details found on his birth egg are not here. He has no texture at all and comes in only two tones of paint: dark blue and some light blue. This is not Good Smile´s fault but is his original design. He dosnt looks organic actually…looks kinda robotic.

His body is “muscly”…i never noticed before, he looks like human with no skin, only raw tissue and muscle tough they are all blue and the wet look dosnt help at all. His face is clean and beatifully designed, a separate piece from his helmeth thingy, his llips have a pretty femenine pink tone and his eyes are sharp and perfectly painted with red pupils. He is one of the prettyest ladys i ever got on figure form, tough he has a penis.

No, really, he ACTUALLY have a penis sculpted between his legs. Is imposible to see thanks to the dark blue but he have a sausage shaped thing actually sculpted and thats extremelly disturbing.

Now his wings, the sourse of all his succes and failures. The wings are extremelly good looking, no way to deny that. They share the same wet look and dark blue tones with only some small golden details. They dosnt looks too much like bat wings or a falcon, but they looks like roach wings. Actually, the whole Femto looks more insectoid than anything in close inspection…like a winged Xenomorph.

The wings comes in 3 different sections, two attached to his shoudlers and one to his back. And each wing have a middle articulation. This is extremelly cool since once posed rigth, they can give an extraordinary feel of movement. And even in a pasive pose, the wings give to this guy a very spectacular and elegant look.

Most people have complained about the “broken” look they have. I dont have problem with th fragmented look, but my problem comes with the fact this guy NEEDED more wings!!! There is always two big empty spots on his sides in between the wings, and this brokes completelly the ilusion.

Two more fragments of wings are needed or a way to open up the wings of the front soo the things can cover him completelly. Also, some articulations in the upper shoulder pads are needed too. If i move the left wing up, the middle wing just pop out and fall or the rigth wing too. One way to fix this could have been make the wings with soft plastic soo they dont restrict the articulation and poses, but instead of that Figma made them with hard plastic. They are heavy and actually…very difficult to pose.

Move his wings in a way they have a flow motion look AND at the same time cover the empty spots between them is incrediblly tricky. I cant even pose him with his wings fully opened or fliying. This was a good chance for Figma to give him an open giant wing for the high price he have but they missed the chance.

I am very happy with him, even if his wing are such a letdown and are not dynamic at all, the figure itself and his giant egg make this a great deal. Plus, aside of his base he comes with a toon of multi posed hand gestures to play with as well.

Pairing him up with Casca is a lot of fun as well tough i am not that evil as to recreat the movie. My Casca will have a happy ending this time.

I am was fully hyped to get the Whore Princess of Uterine Sea - Slan, my favorite God Hand member a few weeks after but i still dont know if i will be able to complete the whole collection…

CASCA

Years ago i saw the Guts Figma just when it was released and i pass on him because i got Archer. A couple of weeks later, Guts was 100$. Thats one of the things i regret the most in the last years tough later on Good Smile re-release him and i was able to get him.

Soo i decided to give Casca a chance while i got the Guts and while i wait for the God Hand Figma. Because i pre-ordered Femto and we all know, of course, that every Femto needs a Casca.

I am not sure if humanity dosnt likes Casca or this figure in particular, but i found her pretty cheap and theres plenty of her around. Poor Casca, i guess i can see why… she can be loved for those who read Berserk but the rest of the people wont like her at all because her color scheme is a little monotone and she have a kind of asexual look. Unlike all other Figma toys, she dosnt have huge eyes, colorfull hair, giant boobs and a student uniform.

She is covered on a realistic designed armour, with no exposed ass parts of legs or bosoom, and she have a manly hair style too. She is not glamorous deffinetly but she is a realistic looking female warrior and that makes her stand out for me.

She is bigger than the Nurses and as tall as Archer and Snake (wich gives me the feeling they did Guts kinda big) and while she gives the impression of being a small toy, she have the standar size of any action figure and fit with most lines now days.

She cant stand on her own but she dosnt have too since Figma produce the best bases ever.

The articulations works really good, they are resistant and soft to give her totall freedom of movement. One thing i loved about this figure is how her armour is not a single piece, but it consts on 2-3 parts joined together soo she can move her torso as well since all pieces on her armour move independently. How amazing is that for a toy of this size??? Not even the Hot Toys do this!!

The materials they use for her are pretty good as well. While her face have a nice and soft texture and her armour have a pretty good metalic paint on it, all her clothig is made with ruber/soft plastic. Her skirt dosnt stop her legs movement and the texture of her cape is really good looking with this materials.

She dosnt have too many accesoryes. She comes with an army of little hands for a multitud of usefull poses. Aside of that she only have her sword as weapon. This sword have a pretty delicate and elegant design and fir perfectly on the scabbard that hangs from her belt. This little details are wath makes Figma soo good.

Her other accesory is her helmeth with a feather. Again a pretty good looking item but the best part of hos can be used in  apretty simple and clean ay. The helmeth can be divided in two soo you can fit her head perfectly inside before joinging the two parts again. A really simple system that works perfect for this size.

She also have an extra angry face for battle and thats all. From the small teeth and the tongue to the lipstick of the “calm” face and the intrincate details on her eyes, everything is perfectly painted in here.

If i have to complaign about something that would be her hair. Is a little too plain and boring looking. I am sure they could have done a better job by sculpting longer strands of hair to give it a more stylish look but aside of that thisis a very good product of a female that dosnt have too many toys to begin with.

GRIFFITH

When Good Smile Company released theyr Berserk Figma action figures years ago i missed them, i wasnt interested in such small figures and later on i really regret it, since this are one of the best articulated figures from Berserk tough it was almost too late, untill recent years, when Good Smile started to re-release the figures with a new paint.

Excent for one, Griffith, he is not an upgrade ovr the first Griffith tough is not too bad considering how solid he was back then, now day he stands pretty well. I am not a fan of Griffith actually, and i just got him because...well...is Berserk!!! I didnt wanted to regret twice!!

He is taller than Casca but smaller than Guts, pretty much in the middle and can stand very good on his own tough the standar Figma base is always welcome. He is articulated on the head, neck, wrist, shoulders, elbows, wrists, legs, knees and ankles and almost all articulations work perfectly except for his head. The range of movement of his head is pretty limited thank to his long hair. I was expecting hair articulation but he dosnt have any, soo theres not too much to do in that section.

He is...pretty, really pretty, much more prettyer than Casca, with the standar soft texture on his skin, rose pink lips and beautifully painted blue piercing eyes with long eye lashes. Figma did a really good job at him as expected, he looks really angelic compared with Guts.

His hair... well, it gets on the way constantly thanks to the long strands on the sides and his mane on the back, the strands just looks...stiff and akward, i wish Figma added extra articulations on them but i guess thats too much to ask.

His armour is excelent, really shines like metal and is composed of multiple layers and tiny pieces soo Giffirth can move with total freedom. Is amazing how good looking and meticulosully detailed are this armours for such a small scale. He also have his cape wich fits with a peg on his back, the upper collar is plastic, the rest is fabric.

I dont know wath to think about the cape tough....the difference of material stands out a lot and while the cape is pure white, looks like a pearl and kinda flows, it makes it looks kinda cheap....almost like the Black Swordman Guts ALMOST because Griffith cape flows much better. Also the plastic part dosnt rest on his shoulders at all and that is...just weird looking. Also, he cape and the base are not compatible at all, but thats to be expected at all.

His accesoryes are a bunch of hands for different gestures, his helmeth and his sword. The hands are really good looking and give me the feel of a skeleton hand, but they can been exchanged pretty easy and have a big range of motion. The helmeth actually have an extra head/face that can be placed on the figure, a mad and fierce Griffith....that looks 90% the same except he is looking at one side.

This head part can be removed to leave the helmeth totally empty soo Griffith can hold it on his hand. This is a really nice touch and adds a lot of personality to the display. His sword is actually a rapier, a very delicate and light one that can fit perfectly on his scabbard and his hand. The base of the sword must be removed to introduce the hand thanks to the intrincate sculpt, but doing it is easy.

Overall, this is an extremelly good looking Griffith with very exquisite detaild, tough the cape really broke the ilusion as well as the head articulation and hair. Change the head is actually really tricky thanks to the damn hair and i fear i may broke him in any moment. He feels specially delicate from between all other Figmas but hes a pivotal character that complements the display of any of the other figures of the serires (specially Femto).

BERSERK ARMOR GUTS

Last year i didnt buy too many figures really, and i think my most hyped figure from the pro-orders was deffinetly Berserk Armor Guts from Berserk. Made by Good Smile in theyr Figma serires, Berserk Guts was released many years ago and even included a volume from the manga and it quickly transform in one of the most crazy expensive Figmas.

Of course, i missed him, but Good Smile was smart enough to re-release him with some upgrades and i pre-ordered him without a doubt! First of all his box is huge, even tough he is just a little bit taller than the other characters, he is quiet menacing looking. He cant stand on his own at all (more of that later) soo his Figma base is pretty basic.

I have to say this is pretty much the most beautyfull Figma in my collection and he is amazinglly build. Each part of the armour is a totally independently sculpted piece, soo he is full of layers in a pretty intrincate way. He is ubber articulated tough some of his articulations dosnt work too much. He cant open his arms too much thanks to the shoulder pieces on his armor and his head dosnt move too much thanks to the neck piece and the cape.

Its a shame he have such limitations, but still it feels like he can achive many and most poses. This version have a different paint over the original release. The original one was totally grey, this one is black, with metalic grey on the edges of every cingle armour piece and some dark and almost unnoticeable blood here and there. The effect is very subtle but the texture of the armour is extremelly rich.

Also, his cape....that cape is probablly my favorite part of the whole figure. The cape is made with hard plastic tough is sculpted like is flowing on water...actually, the cape looks more like a smoke screen than a piece of fabric thannks to the awesome texture on it and the amazing paint, with a mix og blacl, grey, browns and other tones, the cape looks like a "pencil drawing" and fits visually perfectly, quiet the opposite to the Black Swordman Guts horrible paper cape.

The cape is heavy and fits on his back with a peg and nothing more. Guts can stand perfectly without the cape but with it he cant stand of course, but the base can fix that easy. Put the cape on his back is actually kinda tricky thanks to the shape of the cape and how it needs to conect with the little cape piece around his neck also the figure needs to be hunched in order to fit it nicelly and even soo, the cape have a tendency to fall. Is awkard, but its worth all the trouble.

Another upgrade in this version is an extra helmeth with the shape of a skull, like the first time Guts use this armor. The sculpt is really good and have the same awesome paint the rest of the armor have. The front part of the helmeth can be removed to take out Guts fierc looking face, the same face the Black Swordman Guts have soo heres no complaing on the quality. Aside of the helmeth, the set also includes a cape piece around his neck as well as a chest piece with a halg moon shape.

Its almost imposible to move his head thanks to this half moon shape thingy but he looks really really handsome and sexy using this version of the armor, tough i am afraid to broke this half moon piece since its very tircky to remove it from his chest.

The other accesory is the devil beast helmeth, with the shape of a wolf. This set consist on another chest piece without the half moon thingy mixed with the upper cape part as well as the wolf helmeth. The helmeth looks terrific and even have articulated mouth and the "eyes" is painted in a vibrant and fiery red. This is my favorite look over all and is the one with best neck articulation.

There is a third version as well wich consist on the open devil beast helmeth. This also have the chest piece with the cape neck but it also includes the lower jaw of the helmeth. The head have a shorter version of the devil beast design with open eyes, soo you can see Guts face underneath. Like with the Skull version, this design needs to be open to add the Guts face. Is kinda odd theres only one face but i guess more face expression would not be too usefull considering he is always using helmeths.

His other accesoryes are a bunch of hands. Really, he have LOADS of hands with all kind of textures and they are easy to swap tough my favorite is the feral claw like hands. He also comes with his Dragon Slayer Sword, the same from the normal figure, but this time around is all bloody wich add him a pretty gruesome look.

There is another (ANOTHER!!) accesory, probablly the best one: Schierk on ghost form. This Schierk is a totally independen figure and even have an articulated neck!!! Cast on transluscent white plastic, she only have wome white finish here and there and a soft grey to define her face. The pain of her face is perfect and looks incrediblly ethereal. She is supposed to on Guts back, with a plug on her hand inside a whole on the cape.

Ia have the say, add the helmeth section, with the cape over AND Schierk on the back is really tricky and needs patience but is worth all the troubles, this figure is really fantastic looking in the end.

I am really afraid to broke this guy eventually, thanks to all the small pieces that builds him, the exchange of heads with the small articulations and with chest and capes pieces in the middle, as well as heavy accesorys (Schierk and the cape) hanging from him, but aside of that i really think this Figma is trully perfect.

He is big, mean, beautifull, movable and LOADED with lots of accesorys for display, i think i like him much more than the God Hand figures and i am extremelly happy Good Smile lets us get this jewel again.

DOG ALIEN

I am actually a big fan of Alien tough until now i didnt buy any figure of the characters. In my adult life thats it, since in my childhood i had all the Alien line from Kenner, including the Colonial Marines and theyr vehicles. The truth is, after Kenner line, all other Alien figures looked the same for me.

With the exception of the Queen and the Predalien, all Xenomorphs looked the same in any scale. But when i saw this cute little guy i was really attracted to his crooked silhouette and cockroach look.

The Dog Alien from Alien 3, he wasnt birth from a human, but instead his host was a dog/cow and that gives him prety different features. He is from NECA Reel Toys and part of theyr very succesfull Alien line tough i have no idea if he is new or how much time he has been in the market by now.

He is tall and slim and cant really stand on hiw own thanks to the animal design of his legs. He is fully articulated and his tail is bendable and have a pretty sturdy texture. Some of his articulations are really difficult to move and mine have a twisted leg that makes it even more difficult to stand.

Given the crooked nature of his anatomy, is pretty hard to see this twisted leg and i dont have too much of a problem with it but this is the very first time i have a issue like this with a NECA toy.

I cant say for sure if he is movie acurate since we never see him on his full glory on film, but his sculpt is really intrincated and complex. He is sporting this dark brown color that makes him looks like a roach more than a dog (and his head dosnt help). Each opening and vein is detailed with blacks and soft browns and he is trully gruesome to look at.

His dome is transluscent with a black smokey shade soo you can see perfectly his insides. I love this effect!!! Is amazing how much details are NECA using in this creatures!!

Each one of his fangs are sculpted and painted and inside his articulated mouth he have his second jaw. Its a shame Kener toys didnt had this feature back in 1993, as a kid i would have loved this kind of stuff.

His lone accesory is a base designed to make him stand in all four, like a dog. This base is completelly useless thanks to the clow not be articulated and is much more easyer make him stand without it than with the base.

He is taller than the rest of the NECA toys as can be seen on the last pic and i am glad his scale is perfect for them, that means he is on scale with most action fiigures as well.

Aside of the useless base, i have no complaing wathsoever. His size, amount of detail and low price makes him an excelent figure to display and play with. Its kind of nostalgic to have a Xenomorph toy in my hands after 20 years…tough the nostalgia is keep for the other figure i bouth along side him….

MANTIS ALIEN

When i notice NECA was doing a tribute to Kenner i knew i had to have those figures. The Aliens line from Kenner was one of my favorites in my childhood and i even had the entire line in my hands at one point (Colonial Marines and vehicles included) and i had A LOT of fun with them. The odd and bizarre new design for the Xenomorph didnt make any sence but they where really fun to look and play with.

24 years later and NECA is re-doing some of those characters, giving them a modern look and all the attention to detail modern adult toys have. The Queen Face Hugger was a huge dissapointment… and i am really looking forward to put my hands on a Gorila Alien, but for now i got the Mantis Alien, the most colorfull of the series.

First of all, i saw some people complaining this guy used recycled parts from other Alien toys. Well, if thats true, then i can see no problem in here. Building a toy like this needs a lot of money and if NECA recycle a few parts i cant see the issue, this creature is the same species as the other Aliens, soo it makes sence he have elements on his anathomy that match the others.

Aside of that, this guy is one of the coolest and prettyest Alien toys i ever seen. The intrincate design on his head - with the plaques that looks like bug eyes -, the tail with the stinger, the bony “shoulder pads”, he looks elegant and extremelly modern and yet he looks very old school, almost like the monster from a senati TV show.

The paint is really basic, with cooper color fangs and some metalic tones here and there and yet this is incrediblly colorfull, thanks to the transluscent green plastic they used on him. This transparency gives him an amazing vibrant look and makes him quiet hiddeous too. While the Dog Alien was slymmy, this really looks insectoid.

Theres a complete range of articulation in here, from hi head and mouth that can be open (and reveal a transluscent green inner jaw) to the many elbows he have (4 elbors in each arm) and knees, theres no limit really to poseability here. Even his pincers are articulated as well.

He is also tall. He is HUGE, taller than the Dog Alien standing up rigth, giving him the same heigh as a Play Arts Kai figure and matching the perfect size for standar action figures.

The big BIG problem in here is that, he cant stand at all. His heavy head, the stinger on his tail, the huge arms and the backward shape of his insect legs, every single thing works against him and makes him victim of gravity. The theory is that he is supposed to hold himself up with his pincers up front, but the articulations cannot resist the weight and after a couple of minutes he is liying on the ground.

I find it hard to understand why NECA gives a useless base to Dog Alien but nothing to this guy. An specific base for him since giving the shape of his body, not all bases work with him. I ended up using one of my spare PAK bases here tough but a good option for NECA was to give him sturdy ratchet articulations that hold the pose in place and not this run of the mill ball joints.

This figures is the embodimient of style over functionality, since he is incrediblly pretty and cool but is pretty hard to notice that if he is liying in the ground like a green corpse.

He comes with the same accesoryes the Kenner toys had: a little chestbuster with a posable tail and a green color. I asume this thing is the Mantis Alien in baby form and is one of the cutestst things i ever seen, with his tinny arms and silver little fangs.

The other accesory is a re-print of Dark Horse comic that came with this same guy 24 years ago. I love hos NECA didnt forget a single detail in here and is bringing back this silly little comic full of the 90s cliches.

I am in love of this guy, really. But i am just amazed NECA didnt do anything to fix the stability issue - the single thing that keeps this guy from total perfection. Now if only NECA release its own version of the Bull Aliens or the Fliying Queen, that would be rad. But in the mean time, i will hunt a Gorila to pair him up with this green monstruosity.
