CARLOS OLIVEIRA & NEMESIS

In the year 2000 we had the very first japanese figures based on Resident Evil by Moby Dick Toys. Back then the game was extremelly popular and the fact the figures were soo rare and difficult to find didnt helped, soo they pretty much had theyr price escalated like a rocket to the moon. This figures came into pairing just like the ToyBiz ones but they were much much much bigger and they had the Capcom seal of aprovement soo they were 150% accurate to the original designs.

After releasing not one but 3 different Jill Valentine variations as well as all the no zombies B.O.W.s, Serires 4 finally had wath we all waited for soo long: Nemesis. Serires 4 contained Carlos Oliveira and Nemesis packed with an extra part to build Nemesis Type-3.

Carlos is much taller than Jill - i like how they keep the scale betwen characters here - he is the biggest human figure in the series and cant stand on his own given to the sculpt of his feet, but he have a base that works good. He is articulated in the ehad, shoulders, wrists and waist and thats it, he is more stats than Jill on her Regina outfit. Only the head and shoulders have ball joint soo this are the parts that will help to give him some poses but theres not to do here to he honest.

He is pre-posed pointing his rifle while walking up front tough i think his legs and arms arent as muscly as they need, i wish he was much beffyer like in the game tough he is deffinetly bigger than Jill. The sculpt on his uniform is OK but since his body is a whole piece and not copposed of different elements, the sculpt on the puches and straps on his uniform are a little bland looking, also he dosnt have any kind of texture soo his skin looks really plastic.

His face is a little too long and his hair a little too short, he have too much forehead too soo he dosnt have that exact look Jill had on her figure. The paint dosnt help either since his skin is kind of....orange or yellow looking with darker orange tones. His blue eyes are OK tough i dont think he have blue eyes on the game....tough i hate the look on his pinks lips but his hair with darker browns looks ok.

His uniform looks ok as well with green and black but the best part is the Umbrella logo on his back, this is the most intrincate part of the paint. Overall some parts are bad looking while other are just ok, wich make this figure mediocre looking considering how good looking was Jill, is like Moby Dick Toys didnt care at all the male characters and sadly, this is pretty much the only Carlos Oliveira figure to eve exists soo far in 2023.

His base is similar to Jill´s but with the Umbrella logo on it both nicelly sculpted and painted. His other accesory is his rifle, woth a good sculpt and a plain silver aint, Carlos holds it prety easy and have an extra laser sight that can be attached on top of the weapon and an extra bullets pack.

The second figure of the pack is responsile for us buying this pack, Nemesis. He is tall, really tall and rach a modern Play Arts Kai in scale and can stand on his own perfectly. He is articulated on the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, legs and knes. More articulations than Carlos for sure tough sadly, this are all cut joints, and his outfit blocks completelly his legs movement and one of his arms, and the oncovered arm have hard plastic tentacles attached from his back to the shoulder soo it cant be moved too much.

This guy is made with rpetty hard plastic except his outfit, is made with soft rubber plastic and helps a lot to give it a nice leatherish texture, tough this rubber is not flexible enough to give him room to movement, soo he is also basically a statue. A pretty accurate statue thats it, even the folds on his pants are accurate to the Capcom artworks of Nemesis in game.

The shape of his body, the size of his head and hands, everything is 100% accurate to the game, this is the original and first Nemesis from 1999 and soo far, in 2023, is the best Nemesis figure to date. Every belt is here, every fold of clothing from his front to his back view.

His skin have a weird texture, like mixed with burn meat and rotten meat except for the open wounds on his houlders with muscle tissue. The paint is fanfastic, full of browns and greens to give it a sick looks like ground meat but it also have some weet effect, specially on the bloody parts.

His outfir tough is just pitch black, no paint except for some buckle but it looks really perfect for him that way.

This is the first creature with accesorys tough, firs f all his rocket launcher. While the weapon is a perfect sculpt like seen on the game , it dosnt have any paint on it soo it have a pretty plastic look, just plain dark green tough is easy to see wath it is. It fits ok on Nemesis hand tough he´s grip is kinda lose, soo is better to bent his elbow a little soo the launcher rest on his shoulder.

He also have two extra gripping hands and one extra head. All of them are very difficult to change and i am really afraid to broke them since they only have one big peg that fits on a hole but the material is specially brittle after 23 years. While the hands are unncesesary, the extra head have an articulated jaw soo he opens and close his mouth.

The sculpt and paints are pretty much identicall as the original head and while the mouth dosnt close to good, when open it looks fantastic since you can see his purple tongue inside!!

Is weird how Moby Dick Toys managed to put togethet wo figures with such different quality; Carlos is really bland and dissapointing while Nemesis is brillant and impossing, is like they didnt care specially the human characters at all but to be honest, back then the main characters of Resident Evil was the monsters....we all wanted figures of RE for the zombies, Lickers, Tyrants, soo there wasnt too much problem with this release, quiet the opposite, rigth now this Nemesis is extremelly expensive at Ebay.
