HUNTER β

Moby Dick Toys was a japanese toy company founded by Go Nagai (yes...the guy who did Mazinger Z and Devilman) and expert on doing pretty...odd toys. The information about the brand was pretty slim in 2000, now is almost non existant, at least for no japanese talking people. They debut wasnt with Devilman toys tough, but Resident Evil, the BIOHAZARD 3 Real Shock Action Figures series was the first japanese figures about the game and under direct supervision of Capcom, with no action features and more expensive than the ToyBiz series, they were pretty much aimed to adult collectors.

They came in a two pack: a human character and a monster, and they also included an extra piece to build Nemesist Type-3 once the collection was complete. The box they came in was GIGANTIC and the price was high but more importantly....they were pretty rare and hard to find and they were on shelves two years and after that they dissapeare, making them even much more rare and imposible to find!!

Another thing was the odd character selection! Istead of release Carlos, Nicholai or even Brad, the soo called Series 2 featured another Jill Valentine but this time on her STARS outfit from the boutique (or also could be used for a display based on the first game of course) packed along side the Hunter β.

For 23 years i looked everywhere this Series 2....and i saw it a couple of times with a hundreds price tag but thats it, getting this Mobu Dick Toys is such a struggle btu finally, after 23 year i managed to find the Hunter β!! Not Jill and no Nemesis Type-3 piece but up at this point on my life i dont think i will get another chance to get one of this figures soo i snatched this guy.

Hunter β is in very good condition for been a lose figure and he is....just....enormous, way too big. Two heads taller than Jill or even 3 heads compared to the Drain Deimos. I am not sure this guy was this big in game but i dont think Moby Dick messed up the scales given the big attention to detail they had. Anyway Hunter β is as tall as a modern Play Arts Kai but much much much much heavyer!!!

He is articulated on the shoulders, elbows, wrists, chest and legs. All cut joints that move on nly one direction except the chest area thats ball jointed soo it have a good range of movement. The rest is very limited, specially his left arm covered in tumors, the shoulder articulation is completelly blocked by it.

He can stand on his own...kinda...sometimes. He have huge feet that makes him easy to stand but sadlly, his body is soo incrediblly heavy, the cut joints on his legs tend to bend and make him fall after a couple on hours. This is vital given how heavy he is, if he falls over a machine or another toy he would make them dust or even broke an arm, a leg if it falls on a person. Or even kill someone if he falls on the head of someone. This creature can be a blunt weapon pretty easy.

The sculpt is fantastic, just like the Drain Deimos. He is preposed based on the Capcom artwork, standing looking at a side and he is totally accurate: The wrinkled texture of his feet, the big scales on the back on his legs, the creppy bone structure on his hips, the big rib cage, but worst of all; the tumor tissue on top of his torso is extremelly disgurting and weird, every membrain and wrinkle and vein is sculpted in here and covering half of his head.

The only eye looks perfect but my favorite part are his big and twisted fangs that looks really good, specially because his head is hollow. I just wish there was some articulation on his head since thet would help a lot to give him different poses, but with his ehad turning to one side he is mostly a statue.

The paint is good, mostly a dark green with some rpetty sharp details nicelly painted - like the veins on his bulgue or his menacing and giant claws - but most of the paint is on the tumor growth on his top half, with a pinck paint that mixes perfectly with the green. The look is very natural and the red veins in some sections makes it looks really frigthing.

Its difficult to take lots of pictures of this Hunter β given hsi lack of movement but he is soo full of gross detail and given his huge size he is extremelly menacing on the shelf (always menacing to fall on your head and kills you) and despite being all alone with no Jill he looks spectacular, even for a no Resident Evil display this is am amazing beast for a horror collection. I will look for Jill for sure but given it took me 23 years find this guy i am not expecting too much of Jill.
