PSYCHO GENIE

The Devilman action figure series from Fewture Models had some amazing pieces once half of the second series was released, but my most hyped figure by far was deffinetly Psycho Genie. She is one of my favorite characters of Devilman thanks to her arresting and terrifiying design and owning her action figure at last was such a threat. This is - as far as i know - the only Psycho Genie figure to date.

Yasushi Nirasawa did a damn solid design on her, it was soo good they used it as base for her Amon Apocalypse of Devilman version and 18 years later they used it again for Devilman Crybaby. She is not monochrome anymore but have darker colors and vibrant red/oranges on her.

She is standar demon size, like Siren or Satan but a head smaller (…). Most of the sculpt details comes on her hair. She have hair around her face and under her armpits and on the back, but on the top she have this weird orange tentacles with rings near the end. This tentacles have an intrincate sculpt since they are asembled in layers and have no paint at all since they are cast on transluscent plastic.

Her face is beautyfull, way too pretty i should say since she dosnt have that maniatical smile showing her teeth, her eyes are much more human and she is using beauty make up. Her body is a different story since is limp and pretty sickly looking.

Half of her body is white, the other half is painted on a metalic purple, both sides are covered in orange veins and the details i love the most are her impresive claws and arlequin like feet. This details make her look playfull and dangerous at the same time, vibrantly colorfull but sinister.

On her back she have her abdomen, with abs and part of her “neck”, a thir eye and her boobs. I am damn glad they didnt censore this figure tough, is soo damn twisted as weird is imposible not to like her. Why Nirasawa por her boobs on the back? Just because Psycho Genie is that weird, she is busines in front and party on the back!

Her action feature consist on a face change: her face can be removed like a giant doll like mask and reveal wath the package names “Psycho Visage”: a really evil looking face with no flesh and a big grin, empty sockets and a third eye. Remove this skull mask and you can reveal the “Psycho Brain”, Psycho Genies true form and her core: a potrid and rotting head with a green radioactive brain and an eye on the center.

Yasushi Nirasawa sure oozed inspiration while he was doing this monster.

She is pretty well articulated, her elbows, half her arms, wrists, shoulders, legs, knees, ankles and four of the tentacles on the front of her head are movable and add a lot of display posibilitys.

Sadly, she have a big weak point: she cant stand for more than five minutes doe to the heavy weight of her head and the weaknes of her legs articulations. She have the big base with her name on it and the skeleton and snakes sculpted on it, but the base is totally useless, she just keep falling over and over again.

She suffered a lot of ufly falls from my shelves until i used a Play Arts Kai base on her and eve with the, it was pretty tricky to use the base thanks to the obstacles on her back (her boobs).

Even with this issue, she is one of my all time favorite action figures and one of my favorites of series two along side Zennon. I would even dare to buy her a second time just to have hear in mint condition.
