WELVATH

Fewture Models released of a lot of strange and bizzarre toys 18 years ago, very important characters that never had an action figure before (like Ryo or Ghelmer) or pretty obscure characters that due to theyr design they would be too strange for toys (like Mico or Jinmen). One of this characters that fall into both categoryes was Welevath, the very first demon to fall victim of Devilman.

One of the very first monstruositys on the anime and one of the last figures of the collection, Yasushi Nirasawa was masterfully redesigning this character at this point and his confidence shows.

Welvath is the smallest demon on the collection, she is human size and is cast is totally white plastic with certain transparency that gives her and ethereal and marmoreal appearance. She dosnt have 70s tattos or anything like it, she is only dressed with a pair of leather pants for a much modern look and some funy electric blue tattos. To complement her look, she is using a yellow feather boa that can be wrapped around her in any way since it have a wire inside.

Her abdomen is misshaped, her feet are those of an animal and her arms are divided like a crocodile mouth, with little piranha fangs and a purple long tongue with huge black claws at the end. This is one of the figures with the best silhouette of the entire collection and the demonic faces with yellow eyes, tiny teeths and purple tongues on her boobs looks amazing.

Her face shows a sepulsive grin with fangs and one of her eyes has comes out of her socket like a purple tentacle. This tentacle is not soft so it cannot be adjusted sadly, but the rest of her sculpt and pain are top notch.

Everything on her have this odd shining quality, like she is made with neon lights, the soft purple of her skin, her vibrant yellow hair and boa, everything is neon on her because she glows under dark light. I didnt had one of this dark lights with me soo didnt take photos but she is surpsinglly colorfull, like a rainbow.

Her action features consist on 3 different looks by exchanging her head. Aside of the basic one we got another one with a mohawk and tattos on her skull and another one with long hear but on a screaming position with articulated jaw. I am not sure if she is screaming of laughing tough, but my favorite is the punk mohawk. For me it seems Nirasawa didnt made his mind wich one wanth to use soo he added all of them.

She is articulated on her head, shoulders, arms mouth, legs and ankles but thanks the the twisted shape of her legs and back, she dosnt have too many display uptions unlike her older demon brothers. And thanks to the sculpt of her legs she cant stand on her own at all.

She have the big coing base with her name on it, but the base dosnt help too much at all and she needs a little bit of extra help with a small piece of black paper i put under her toes. This works wonder and keeps her in perfect balance solving the problem.

She is not one of my favorites along Zennon and Psycho Genie due to her small frame and limited articulation, but she is soo damn close she is deffinetly one of the most brillantly made characters of the series. Her sculpt is amazing and her paint is just beautyfull and vibrant, she would look perfect on any display of horror figures or any collection of the grotesque and macabre or body horror. Its a shame she is soo damn hard to find.
