DEVILMAN AMON

When i saw photos of this figures five years ago i was blwon away!!! I needed him but his price was soo high i wasnt able to get him (specially considering his size), but last weekend, while visiting a convention of retro toys (theres soo many treasures in there!!!) i found him half the retailer price!! Soo without a doubt i take this guy home with me.

From the brand Sentinel (the guys who did Venom Snake arm replica and his iDroid) and tittled “re: CREATURES - DEVILMAN Amon” this is actually Katsuya Terada´s version of Devilman traslated into plastic. And this guy is in fact not as small as i was expecting. He is bigger than FIGMA (wich makes sence given hes not a human) and the same scale than Neca and McFarlane toys soo he can pretty much fits into many collections.

His details are breath taking. The flaps of flesh over his face, the division on his horns, the feather/scally texture on his legs, the bones on his wings fingers, every detaild is sharplly and deeply sculpted on the plastic and the paitn job is as amazing as the sculpt since is vibrant and perfect.

The lines that are thin and delicate (like the ones on his shoulders) are perfectly sharp and the zones than needs different tones (like his legs) are difuminated perfectly. Theres no splotch of paint to be found and its almost like the paint was aplied under the plastic itself since theres no “paint texture” at all. He is smoth on every form.

This is by far the most articulated Devilman toy i ever seen. His neck, chest, shoulders, abs, every sections comes with a double ball joint that gives it total fredom of movement. This articulations can also be disjointed in order to keep it from harm (if he falls) and his tail is bendy.

Sadly, this articulations makes him pretty delicate too since it seems theres a production error on his legs articulation and it can be broken if moved in certain way. I read about this issue online soo i been triying to avoid broke him soo far but changing his accesoryes is pretty tricky thanks to his crazy amount of articulations and spikes/claws/wings/ horns.

I need to be extremelly carefull with this guy.

His accesorys consist on a set of open claw hands for some action poses and a set of “closed” wings that fit nicelly on his back and looks like gross insect legs. He also comes with an extra angry/roaring face that makes him looks pectacular and a set of “open” wings.

The open wings are kinda heavy for his articulations, but they are soo amazinglly done and they looks soo…..fleshy? Almost dragon like….He also comes with a transluscent gree fire that can be put on his mouth in order to complement his dragon looks. Is pretty neat they added this accesory since Devilman ACTUALLY can shot fire from his mouth.

He also comes with a pretty classy and elegante base with a black tiles design under a transluscent glas surface and a arm and a claw to hold Devilman. I wish the arm was transparent too as the base and the arm is actually kinda weak and dosnt support him as much as i want too but is a big help since Devilman cant stand perfectly given his beastly looking feet.

The last accesory and my favorite is actually a brand new figure: the corpse od Jinmen. I feel really sorry for Jinmen given he is one of my favorite villians of the series. His turtle/reptilian sculpt is impresive, with his long tongue curling beautifully on the edge of the base and those amazing claws, the paint is as perfect as the sculpt, with the intense green and yellow tones and red lines te define his eye and face, this guy is worth the price of the whole set.

His back as as disturbing as it should, with skulls and some fleshy faces, some of them are already rotten or mutilated and the little Sa-chan dead less than an inch away of the big injury that kill the monster, the sculpt and the paint convines to create a trully uneartly effect that makes this faces looks like….actual dead people…

Jinmen can be placed anywhere; above the fridge, on the window, on a shelve, but together with Devilman makes a trully outstanding display of horror and violence.

In the end, this set was way too good for the price i pay for him and i am not sure if this is the best Devilman figure out there, but is deffinetly one of the best and also one of the most impresive toys i ever had.

For a Devilman fan this is a must, but even for those who dosnt know the character but collect toys this is an impresive addition to any collection and for those who likes the macabre and obscure this is a dream come true given how demonic and trully frightining are this cratures.
