DEVILMAN ANIME VERSION

After all the madness of Devilman Crybaby, i ended up watching some chapters from the Devilman anime from 1972 and it was nice to get back to the roots of the character. But wath i wasnt expecting is that Bandai get back to the roots as well with theyr first Devilman figure.

I am not very sure when this came out… is not pretty old, maybe less than half a year tough i dont know how this guy got under my radar. It was a pretty nice surprise to see the big and cool looking box of this guy on a toy store along side Mazinger Z.

This is my second SH Figuarts soo i am not very experienced with the line tough this Devilman have a perfect scale with the Figmas: he is taller than your average human and fits very good with all of them.

Devilman with the design of the anime comes with some extremelly vibrant and bright colors and a pretty clean and simplistic sculpt. One would doubt this is from a horror anime but as a sentai action hero is pretty kick ass.He can stand on his own but he comes with a big base in the same style as Mazinger Z.

The base is bulky and robotic looking but supports him very well with an arm on his back. Tough the arm is pretty short soo Devilman canot be posed fliying around, wich is disappointing tough the golden plate with his name and title helps a lot to make a classy looking display.

His articulations works extremelly well, tough they are a little bit fragile on the elbows and they dont have the versatility of the Figma articulations. The plastic he is made with is pretty soft and high quality tough hsi head and fet and other areas are made with harder plastic, wich gives it a little bit different blue tone (tough is pretty difficult to notice under natural light).

He have a collection of hands and two extra heads; one screaming and one with his eyes looking down. The head change is very easy tough change his hands is a little tricky given how tiny they are and how soft is the plastic. I really hope i dont broke him tough i guess theres no real reason to think that.

His back can be removed and exchanged with a back plate with his wings. The wings are articulated and gets in the way of the base a little bit but they looks fantastic. He also comes with an extra buckle with blades coming out of it. The blades are transluscent and are used for the DEVIL CUTER attack.

I love how silly is this version of Devilman.

The biggest part of the package (and why his box is soo big) is a kind of diorama pieces for a construction site. Red metalic beams that includes an arm to support Devilman and put him in the pose of the ending; crossed arms, sitting at the metalic beam. I didnt find out how to fold his arms exactly, but aside of that the beams makes for an amazing display and they can be removed pretty easy.

I really wish they release a Miki Makimura soo Devilman can fly with her on his arms but in the mean time, Shampoo will take her place.

I usually dont collect too much of this particular version of the character, but Bandai has done an amazing job with him. I wish his base arm would be more dynamic, but this guy is the ultimate version of this particular version and have an extremelly fun and classic charm even without his friend Mazinger Z.
