DR. FINKELSTEIN

The Nightmare Before Christmas action figure series was the presentation card of NECA for many collectors as me, and let us build the ultimate Halloween Town display at a very affordable price and really good quality. Series 2 started with a variant of the main character; Santa Jack, but things where in the rigth track again with the next figure in the line, the Dr. Finkelstein.

Dr. Finkelstein is deffinetly one of the most iconic characters from the movie and one of the best designs coming from Tim Burton pen, soo it was a pleasant susprise that NECA released him soo early. The evil Doctor is actually pretty small!! Almost as tall as the Mayor and have a pretty delicate build, tough his wheel chair fits perfectly with Sally soo that means the scale is perfect.

The wheel chair...isnt it odd to have a toy on a wheel chair? When Hasbro released the very first action figures of TNBC back in 1993, the Dr. Finkelstein didnt had his wheel chair and was standing rigth. Now this time around NECA manage to release a 100% accurate figure even with moving wheels and movable levers.

The figure cant be removed from his chair tough he have articulated legs, shoulders, biceps, elbows, wrists and head. Pretty movable for such stationary character, the legs articulations are kinda usless since his feet must match the wheel chair pedals but they are a nice extra. Sadly - here comes the sad part of this figure - his articulations are extremelly delicate, with the years i ended up broking his arms and had to glue them back, soo hes now more like a statue for me. Maybe this was more of my fault than NECA but his limbs are as thing as Jack, soo is really easy to broke him.

The sculpt is really good, with a grainy texture that makes him looks like an actual puppet and very few blue tones for shadows, he is extremelly white and contrast a lot with his dark and almost totally black wheel chair. Almost black since the chair actually have dark browns on the back and the sides (maybe leather material?) and lots of details to find with bolts and stitches.

And the Dcotor himself is also very expresive since he is not staring at emptynes, he is growling and you can see his inside lips on one side of his mouth and some of his ugly yellowe teeth too.

His head can be opened and reveale one of his many accesoryes: his brain that can be removed and divided into two. This brain is made with soft squishy plastic. His other accesorys are a black present with white dots and a skull that is sitting on his laboratory on the movie.

He also have a small plate with the big bowl of soup on top. The plate and the bowl are independent items and the soup is made with green transluscent plastic. The bowl have a crack on the side and a roman desing ornament carved around and wirks perfect with Sally and her spon with holes to recreate Sally´s escape scene.

He also have a chrismas book featuring a tiny and superdetailed illustration of Santa and his reinderrs. Again, is amazing that NECA infused such quality not only on the figure himself, but in the accesoryes, even if they are tiny.

Again NECA managed to release one of theyr best figures on the series, even with the fact how delicate his articulations are, this figure of Dr, Finkelstein hasnt been beaten not even in more than 10 years.
