MAYOR

The Nightmare Before Christmas action figure series 1 was the big debut of NECA for many collector and it was a great one!! It was one of those extremelly rare cases of sky high quality at very low price from a totally new and young company. Series 1 give is Jack Skellington, Sally and also one of the most iconic character from the entire movie and the second most important citizen from Halloween Town: the Mayor.

One of the most difficult figure to wprk wth given the shape pf his body, NECA surelly manage to give us a really good figure f the character. He is much more smaller than Jack and Sally of course tough he reach theyr height with his long hat. He cant stand for obvious reasons but like Sally, he comes with a small token like black base that makes a world of difference and make him keep balance beyong all logic.

And unlike the most rescent Diamond Select atrocity, this Mayor is extremelly articulated!!! The neck, shoulders, biceps, elbows, wrists, ankles and even his legs....or.....half stomach? are all articulated. He is actually a ball with his shuit on top and the head, soo his entire torso have a ball joint mobility makeing him incrediblly dynamic.

His sculpt and paint are really good, with both his faces carved and painted and a fabric like texture on his jacket and theperfect strips on his pants. Also the brigth red ribon on his chest, he looks really good and cloned from the original puppet.

His accesoryes consist on a big and heavy book where he writes all Halloween Town citizen´s duty for halloween. The book is stained with ink and have actually the names written on it just to see how NECA dont leave any detail behind. He also have a small inkwell made with transparent smooke plastic to goes with the book.

For a more early display he also have his megaphone, painted with a rusty texture and the plans for the next halloween. This plans are actually rolls of old looking paper tough they dont have anything printed on them is really good NECA used paper instead of plastic. All accesoryes fit on his hand perfectly.

And the cherry on the cake and my favorite accesory is the vampire duck with holes and blood on his body. The duck can rotate on his base and be removed too and gives a lot of life to the display. I dont know if i shuld count the Mayor´s hat as an accesory since it can be removed but even if it isnt, he already have a lot of display options.

This figure is totally faithfull to the source material, just like Sally, but wath amaze me the most is how well NECA manage to articulate a character with such a round and odd shape. This is the proob any figure can be as dynamic as they want dosnt matter the design.
